DerpyCon is saddened by the loss of Emi Shinohara on September 8th, 2024, at the age of 61 after battling a short illness. Best known for her role as the original Sailor Jupiter in the first Sailor Moon anime, she has voiced many other roles, including Kaho Mizuki in Cardcaptor Sakura and the sequel Clear Card, Biko “B-Ko” Daitokuji in Project A-ko franchise, Kushina Uzumaki in Naruto, and Eri Ochiai in the movie “Perfect Blue”. She was also known to dub foreign films into Japanese. She worked on such films as The Wizard of Oz, Clueless, Nikita, Home Alone, and others. She also voices the Bakuryuu Pteranodon in the Bakuryuu Sentai Abaranger tokusatsu series. She is survived by her husband, fellow tokusatsu actor Hiroshi Watari, and her son.
