DerpyCon Ribbon Game Rules & Guidelines

Overview

DerpyCon’s Ribbon Game is a voluntary, attendee-driven activity where participants design, produce, trade, and collect custom ribbons. Your creativity fuels the fun—anything from an anime quote to an original illustration is fair game. The attendee who collects the most distinct ribbon designs listed in the Ribbon Game Catalog wins a free membership to next year’s DerpyCon.

1. Eligibility & Entry Guidelines

• All registered DerpyCon attendees may submit a ribbon design.
• Designs must be original or properly licensed—no infringing on trademarks or copyrighted material.
• You may enter multiple designs; each requires its own submission form.
• Entry into the Ribbon Game is free; however, ribbon production is self-funded (see Ribbon Ordering).
• Designs must be family-friendly and rated PG-13 or lower: no profanity or sexual references are allowed.

2. Ribbon Submission Process

1. Complete the Ribbon Submission Form. Required details:
• Preferred name (for listing in the Catalog)
• Legal name (for verification)
• Registration order number
• Email address
• Proof of original artwork (PDF, vector file, or high-res image)
2. Submit the form by the published deadline. Late entries will not be listed in the Catalog.
3. After approval, your design will appear in the Ribbon Game Catalog.

3. Ribbon Ordering Options

3.1 Independent Production

• You may use any ribbon manufacturer of your choice.
• Order any quantity you wish to distribute at DerpyCon.
• Production and shipping logistics are your responsibility.

3.2 Bulk Ordering Through DerpyCon

• Complete the Ribbon Order Form (separate from the Submission Form).
• Specify ribbon color, imprint color, finish (e.g., foil), and quantity.
• DerpyCon negotiates a bulk discount; invoices will be issued after form submission.
• Full payment is due before your order is processed.
• Failure to pay for bulk orders forfeits both the order and your design’s inclusion in the Catalog.
• Estimated cost for the ribbon will be around $75 for a quantity of 250 ribbons.

  3.2.1 Bulk Ordering Through DerpyCon Specifications and Process

        DerpyCon offers a discounted bulk‐order option to keep ribbon pricing affordable for our members. Orders start at 250 ribbons and include one‐ or two‐color imprint options.

  • Ordering & Payment Workflow
    • Complete the Ribbon Order Form by the deadline (three weeks before DerpyCon).
    • Upload your approved artwork file matching the specifications above.
    • Three weeks before the convention, you will receive an invoice via email.
    • Pay the invoice through the DerpyCon Store by two weeks before the convention using credit card. A link will be sent to you via email.
      • Failure to pay by the deadline will remove your design from the bulk order.
    • Once payment is confirmed, DerpyCon sends your order to the manufacturer.
  • Proofing & Pickup
    • After order processing (three weeks before DerpyCon), you may receive a digital proof of your ribbon.
    • You may request a one‐time artwork adjustment; if no feedback is received within 48 hours, the proof is deemed approved and sent to print.
    • Ribbons will be available for pickup at the Info Desk during the convention. Please present your payment confirmation email.
  • Additional Guidelines
    • Each design requires its own Ribbon Order Form submission. Multiple designs on one form will be rejected.
    • The high minimum quantity ensures the best possible pricing for members.
    • Questions about bulk ordering can be directed to the Ribbon Game Committee via the DerpyCon Helpdesk.

4. Trading & Distribution Rules

• Trading ribbons is entirely voluntary and must be funded with your own ribbons.
• It is prohibited to ask for or require money in exchange for your ribbon.
• Direct selling of ribbons is forbidden; any design discovered to be sold for profit will be disqualified.

5. Prohibited Practices

• Distributing or trading ribbons outside of voluntary, one-for-one exchanges.
• Bundling ribbon distribution with any paid add-on or event.
• Misrepresenting artwork ownership or licensing.
• Requesting or collecting personal data beyond what’s required in official forms.

6. Game Play & Catalog

• Only ribbons listed in the official Ribbon Game Catalog count toward the contest.
• Each unique design counts as one point per ribbon collected (duplicates from the same design do not add extra points).
• Catalog updates occur daily; watch the public leaderboard for standings.

7. Judging & Awards

• The winner is the attendee with the highest count of distinct ribbon designs collected.
• Final tally will be verified by Ribbon Game staff at Closing Ceremonies.
• Prize: Free DerpyCon membership for next year.
• In the event of a tie, tie-breaker ribbons (announced mid-convention) will decide the winner.
